Internal Medicine
Comprehensive adult medical care — your first stop for symptoms, screening and coordination of specialist care.
What the specialist does
An internal medicine physician (pathologist in Greek terminology) is the primary care specialist for adults. They evaluate a wide range of symptoms, manage chronic conditions, coordinate preventive screening and refer to sub-specialists when needed. For many visitors, this is the right first appointment.
What to expect at your visit
Expect a detailed conversation about your history and symptoms, a physical examination, and a plan — which may include lab work, imaging, medication or referral. Most visits last 20–30 minutes.
